In online poker games, these table manipulations are used at random by professional players. Blocking bet is one such table manipulation often used online poker freaks when they are sure that they are dealing with amateurs.
As most new players go for slow-playing technique, it is all the more a good option to use block bets as a means to thwart the move the player. So, if you are sure that the cards you have got is not a very big hand, you can block bet the opponent player with a token money that is small enough to not to attract players to check call. Block bets not only thwart players’ move but also help in drawing cheaply.
Continuation bet or c-bet is yet another table manipulation used very commonly by professionals. According to some experts, the thumb rule to play this bet is when you’re heads-up to a flop. However, you need to use other variations when dealing with multiple players. In a tourney however, it is not advisable to use this bet often as the number of chips are vital for survival.
In cash game, use it many times as you feel. In fact, some players use this quite methodically – say use c-bet always during a raise. In that case, you just have to identify the occasion and check-raise them to pick up some easy bets.
Delayed c-bet are known as floaters which are used as a means to check the flop to check-raise. Floaters are risky and sinking a floater is similar to trapping a bettor. Try different techniques yourself and find out which manipulation suits best.
